How A Removal Company Should Pack Fragile Items

There is no shortage of removal companies in and around Suffolk and Essex - just like the rest of the UK. You can pick any one of these companies - however that won't always be the wisest choice. You should alwys choose a removal company that are professional and renowned, but also experienced enough to know just how to pack and deal with any kind of your household goods - especially the fragile ones!

When it comes to choosing a removal company to help, you must pick the company that take special precautions to deal with the fragile goods - not the company that just chucks it all in the van and drives off. Here are some of the special measures a removal company like ours would make use of when handling your precious items:

Taping Properly

First and foremost, a removal company worth their salt would never underpack or overpack the boxes when filling them with your belongings. While overpacking them will lead to cramping of the items and damaging the boxes, underpacking them will give the contents too much room to flail around - more often than not leading to more damage. Filling up the boxes just enough and securing them properly with tape to keep evrything secured and protected is the best port of call here.

When it comes to box selection, newer cardboard boxes will always be used rather than older cardboard boxes - which tend to get flimsy as they age and could pososbily give out during the moving process, damaging your things along the way.

Mixing Things Up

Typically, people make use of boxes that are all the same size and shape. However this is where Omni Removals are different. We pack the items in boxes that can be as small as shoeboxes or as big as ottomans, depending on the size of the item that is being moved. More often than not, we pack the heavier items in shallower boxes and put the lighter things in deeper boxes - neber the other way round - to be as efficient as possible with space. We then securely fasten everything with bubblewrap, packing paper and/or newspaper and then tape up the box properly, ready to be moved.

Making The Unconventional, Conventional

When it comes to packing and moving items of odd sizes and shapes, we are very generous with the box size we choose. The fragile family heirlooms and precious valuable and sentimental items deserve their own box. To properly pack these, we would place an added protective layer - in this case, a blanket - to the bottom of the box before we put the item, wrapped in bubblewrap, in there. It would then be sealed and taped properly, with "FRAGILE" sinage clearly labelled and visible on the box.

Strictly No Shaking

When moving mugs, glasses, plates and other china and crockery, we keep these seperate. These items are wrapped seperately in multiple layers of the applicable packing material and are packed in a way that prevents any shaking, jiggling or crashing about during transit.

As you can see, a knowledgable and dependable removal company would take specialised steps to move your goods so that they remain intact, regardless of how far you're moving. This also shows why you should put your stake on a professional moving company to help!
