Four Heavy Furniture Packing Hacks

Relocating from an old place to a new place is never easy. From sorting your regular, every day possessions to securing your high-value, sensitive, antique items, moving house is never easy - no matter how many times you might have done it in the past. Whilst it is easier to move small items like beside tables, lamps etc. when it comes to bulk furniture like sofas, beds and beyond, it takes a lot of effort, packing skills and experience.

To make your house move / removal safer, we have cited a bunch of simpler packing hacks for you to follow:

Dissassemble Where You Can

Packing light-weight items doesn't require too much effort and these things can easily be placed in boxes or crates and then put on the van - but whatabout your wardrobe or kitchen cabinets? These are typical considerations when moving and you must pay attention to them. At Omni Removals, we always recommend disassembling larger furniture into smaller segments where possible to help an easy move through doorways, walkways or cramped spaces. Bunk beds and wardrobes for instance are made up of multiple bolts and screws and it is impeprative you look after these for re-assembly once in your new home.

Equip Yourself With Packing Materials

Not only is it esssential to plan your move, it is much more vital to carry it out properly too. Sofa sets, wardrobes, cupboards and cabinets etc. are all expensive and even the slightest of damage can lead to expensive repair costs or a total replacement. Don't just dissassemble these and chuch the parts into boxes... As with your smaller things, take the time to properly pack and protect these things with adequate packing supplies. We're talking things like: bubblewrap, adhesives, tape etc. Whilst things like carpets, bed sheets and curtains don't require as much attention, crockeryy and hihger value antiques must be totally secured to avoid any damage during transit.

Have Tools and Equipment On Hand

When moving the bigger items mentioned above, it might be tempting to just rely on your friends and family to help you carry them around but this isn't recommended. Taking the time to plan properly can eliminate any last-minute stressing and fussing about. Remember, if you're planning to do the move yourself, you'll still need the equipment that we use ourselves. Naturally, we always recommend a helping hand from the experts in order to save yourself from any potential accident or injury. The reason why is because companies such as ours have access to tools and measures to protect your goods that you might not have yourself.

Have A Checklist

Writing a checklist before your removal date can make things so much simpler. How? Well, sort all of your things you'd like moved and then go around, room by room and pack it all up. The bigger disassembling tasks aren't always a one-night job, they usually involve a lot of time and effort to pack them down, wrap them up and put them into boxes before loading on to the van.

Here at Omni Removals, we provide a part or full packing service for you to make use of so that you don't have to worry about it. We are specifically trained in the handling of fragile, heavy goods and ensure that you don't have to do any of the heavy lifting yourself if needs be.
